Your Top Questions

+ How do I know when I need to reapply sunscreen?

When the purple design becomes visible, it's your cue to reapply sunscreen. The appearance of the design indicates that UV exposure has reached a level where your sunscreen protection may be diminishing.

+ Can these get wet?

Yes. barrière patches are waterproof and designed to stay on during swimming, sweating, and everyday activities. However, prolonged friction or repeated towel drying may affect adhesion.

+ How long does a sticker last?

Each sticker is designed for a single day of use and should be replaced with a new sticker for continued monitoring.

+ How many should I apply?

One sticker is typically enough to monitor your UV exposure. If different parts of your body will experience significantly different sun exposure, you may choose to wear multiple stickers.

+ Do I still need to reapply sunscreen after swimming or towel drying?

Yes. Always follow the sunscreen manufacturer's instructions. Even if the design has not fully appeared, activities like swimming, sweating, or towel drying can reduce sunscreen effectiveness.

+ Where should I apply these stickers?

Apply the sticker to a clean, dry area of exposed skin that receives similar sun exposure as the rest of your body. Common locations include the back of the hand, forearm, shoulder, or upper arm.

+ How do these UV sensor stickers work?

Our UV sensor stickers visually track UV exposure throughout the day. As UV protection diminishes, a hidden design gradually appears in purple, signaling that it's time to reapply sunscreen.

+ Does this replace sunscreen?

No. barrière patches are a reminder tool, not a replacement for sunscreen. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and follow the manufacturer's reapplication instructions.*

+ Can I wear it with spray, lotion, or mineral sunscreen?

Yes. Barrière patches are compatible with all major sunscreen types, including lotions, sprays, sticks, gels, and mineral formulations.

+ Does the sticker contain UV-blocking ingredients?

No. The sticker does not provide sun protection. Its purpose is to help you track UV exposure and remind you when to reapply sunscreen.

+ Will the sticker work on cloudy days?

Yes. Up to 80% of UV rays can penetrate clouds, so UV exposure can still occur on overcast days. The sticker responds to UV exposure, not temperature or brightness.

+ Where and when should I apply my patch?

Patches should be applied to clean, dry skin. Avoid placing patches on your face, head, or any areas with broken or irritated skin. Some of the best spots include wrists, upper arms, shoulder blades, collarbone, back, hips, thighs, and ankles. Our melatonin patches should be applied only when you want to sleep. Otherwise you can apply our patches at any time, day or night! For sensitive skin, rotate patch sites (arm, back, hip, shoulder, etc.) — don’t use the same spot every day.

+ Where are barrière patches made?

Our patches are made in a cGMP-compliant U.K. facility that is M.H.R.A. registered and certified to ISO 9001 standards. The M.H.R.A. is the U.K. equivalent of the FDA here in the U.S.

+ Do you offer returns?

Due to the nature of our products, all items are final sale.

We accept returns for refunds or exchanges for items damaged in transit. Upon receipt of the damaged item, please email wecare@mybarriere.com and we will send a replacement if available or issue a full refund once receiving the defective product.

+ Are barrière patches third-party tested?
